Position Summary

Ready to be part of the fun at Thunder Junction? As a Park Attraction Cashier, you'll be one of the friendly faces that helps keep the park running smoothly. Whether you're working at the Train Depot or Snack Shack, you'll help guests have a great experience from the moment they arrive.

You'll assist guests with train tickets, tokens, snacks, and other purchases while providing friendly and helpful customer service. You'll keep your area clean, organized, and stocked, handle cash and card transactions accurately, and help answer guest questions along the way.

You'll also have the opportunity to help with special events throughout the year, making each day at Thunder Junction a little different. If you enjoy working with people, being part of a team, and creating Miles of Smiles, climb aboard and join the Thunder Junction crew!

Position Summary

Under the direction of a City of St. George Parks and Community Services Parks or Recreation Supervisor, assists in the operation and programs at Thunder Junction All Abilities Park and/or Town Square Carousel.

Essential Functions/Typical Working/Mental Demands/Working Conditions

May perform one or more of these Essential Functions (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. The list of tasks is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.)

• Assists with programs and special events.
• Leads participants in games and hands-on recreational activities.
• Communicates safety rules and procedures to riders and park visitors.
• Performs basic cleaning and maintenance.
• Collects ride tickets and assists in loading the train.
• Provides assistance to patrons entering and exiting the ride.
• Stays current with safety rules and procedures.
• Interacts with park patrons, promotes safe play, answers questions and gives directions.
• Removes litter and empties trash containers when full.
• Refills paper products and performs light cleaning of the restroom facility.
• Sweeps and/or mops the interior of the volcano area and pavilion area.
• Cleans tables and benches.
• Sweeps sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, etc.
• Helps everyone who attends have a positive experience.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Typical Physical/Mental Demands/Working Conditions:

Conditions and temperatures may vary depending on the assignment. Light to moderate physical activity. Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, and walking. Exposure to varying weather conditions. Moderate exposure to stress due as a result of human behavior.

Note: Must be available to work weekdays, Saturdays, evenings, holidays, and other schedules to accommodate the seasonal operational schedule. This is a part-time position with variable hours averaging 6-15 hours per week over a period of twelve months.

Qualifications

Education:

None required. All applicants must be 14 years of age or older.

Experience:

Customer service experience is helpful

Licenses and/or Certifications: None required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Skills:

• Reliability is a must.
• Must be highly motivated and enthusiastic.
• Excellent interpersonal skills necessary when interacting with park attendees and co-workers

Ability to:

• Follow directions.
• Stay on task

Free access to all 4 city golf courses (Dixie Red Hills, Southgate, St. George Golf Club, and Sunbrook), swimming pools (City Pool and Sand Hollow Aquatic Center) and recreation center is available to all part-time employees.

Note: Golf course privileges are based on availability. Employees can book a tee-time within 24 hours or the same day, but may be turned away if there are no available tee-times. If you happen to be golfing with at least 2 paying customers; tee times can be set with more advance notice, but are still based on availability. Red Hills Golf Course will not be available to schedule tee times in advance --- walk on play based on availability only.
