Description of Work
Position Definition: Performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and beautification of City parks, beaches, recreational areas, and associated facilities. This position supports the safe, clean, and attractive condition of grounds, amenities, and structures through routine maintenance, operation of landscaping equipment, and assistance with facility upkeep. Work is performed independently and as part of a team under general supervision.

Supervised By: Receives general supervision from the Superintendent of Parks and Public Property and/or their designee.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of
general park and beach maintenance practices and facility upkeep;
the safe operation and routine maintenance of tractor-type mowers and landscaping equipment;
basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs.
Skill in the safe and effective use of hand and power tools.
Ability to
manage time, prioritize tasks, and follow verbal and written instructions;
identify maintenance needs and perform appropriate corrective actions;
work independently and cooperatively as part of a team;
perform physical labor in varying weather and environmental conditions;
perform physically demanding work, including lifting heavy objects and working outdoors in various weather conditions
communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to demonstrate competence in manual labor and semi-skilled work involving grounds maintenance, landscaping, facility upkeep, basic building or mechanical support tasks, and/or operation or maintenance of tractor-type mowers or similar equipment.
Special Licenses/Certifications AND/OR Supplemental Information
License or Certification: Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
