Job Summary

Under general supervision, performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of parks, grounds, facilities, and related equipment. This position supports daily operations by maintaining safe, clean, and functional public spaces.

Typical Duties

Grounds & Landscape Maintenance

• Mows, trims, edges, and maintains turf areas, fields, and open spaces
• Performs irrigation system maintenance and repairs
• Applies fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in accordance with procedures
• Maintains landscaping including planting, pruning, and removal of vegetation

Facility & Equipment Maintenance

• Performs maintenance and minor repairs to park facilities, structures, and amenities
• Maintains and operates equipment including mowers, tractors, and hand tools
• Performs routine inspection and maintenance of equipment

Park Operations Support

• Assists with setup and teardown of recreational facilities and special events
• Maintains cleanliness of parks, restrooms, and public areas
• Removes trash, debris, and hazards from park areas

Safety & Compliance

• Follows safety procedures when operating equipment and performing maintenance tasks
• Uses appropriate personal protective equipment as required
• Identifies and reports hazards, damage, or maintenance issues

Other Duties

• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience in grounds maintenance or related field preferred

Licenses & Certifications

• Valid New Mexico Class D driver's license

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

• Grounds maintenance practices and techniques
• Operation of landscaping and maintenance equipment
• Basic safety procedures

Skills in:

• Operating maintenance equipment and tools
• Performing manual labor tasks
• Following instructions and procedures

Abilities to:

• Perform physically demanding work
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines
• Work as part of a team

Physical Requirements

Work involves standing, walking, bending, lifting, and performing manual labor tasks.

Working Conditions

Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions with exposure to equipment, noise, and environmental conditions. Position is safety sensitive and subject to drug testing.
