About this Job
The Office of State Parks (OSP) serves the citizens of Louisiana and visitors by preserving and interpreting natural areas of unique or exceptional scenic value, planning, developing and operating sites that provide outdoor recreation opportunities in natural surroundings, preserving and interpreting historical and scientific sites of statewide importance and administering intergovernmental programs related to outdoor recreation and trails.
This position is located at Lake Claiborne State Park in Homer, LA. The purpose of this position is to supervise, coordinate, and direct the work of professional or non-professional park staff involved in the day-to-day operation, administration, construction, and maintenance of the site. The incumbent of this position demonstrates superior seamless customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscally responsible activity.
Minimum Qualifications
Four years of experience in the operation, administration, or maintenance of parks, outdoor recreation, or historic sites; or in parks or conservation work; OR
Four years of experience in law enforcement, interpretive services, mobile equipment operation, building construction or maintenance.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Location: Lake Claiborne State Park in Homer, LA
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotion, or Detail to Special Duty
Work Schedule: State Parks are open 365 days a year. Position will work a rotating schedule of 40 hours/week, which can include holidays and/or weekends as needed, to ensure coverage at the park.
Travel: Position requires driving around the park as part of the daily shift. Travel may be required to other state parks to assist in staffing or events, as needed. A state vehicle is available for employee use while on duty.
