Definition

The City of Missouri City, known as the "Show Me City," is offering a full-time (Laborers and Helpers) position within the Parks and Recreation Department. This role is responsible for maintaining landscaping and hardscaping in City parks, facilities, and rights-of-way, and reports to the Park Crew Leader.

Examples of Work

  • Mows and trims areas, removes litter, conducts visual inspections of park areas, report problems or safety concerns, and maintains city provided equipment
  • Performs routine maintenance on facilities, equipment and fences; prepare athletic fields
  • Performs landscape duties such as planting, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, weeding and watering trees, shrubs and flowers
  • Assists with construction projects and special events as needed
  • Works on emergency operations during natural disasters
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Subject to 24-hour recall

Education, Experience, or Certification

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate
  • One (1) year of grounds maintenance or construction experience required
  • A Class C driver's license or the ability to obtain within six months is preferred.
