Job Summary:

Francis W. Parker School is a renowned JK-12th grade independent day school. The Department of Auxiliary Programs is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our Parker PM Extended Day and Kindergarten Support Staff. This unique role works primarily with the school’s Extended Day Programs and also collaborates with Kindergarten teams for mid-day support and special afternoon projects. Extended Day Staff work to ensure that the children are safe, happy and engaged by providing activities and supervision to groups and individuals and by stewarding the transition from the school day classroom to a positive afterschool environment.

This position works late-August through early-June. Work hours range from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, following the school calendar. This role reports to the Director of Parker PM.

Essential Functions:

• Mid-day Senior Kindergarten duties include planning and implementing student workshop time, supervising lunch and recess and providing general support to the SK classroom.
• Set up and clean up classrooms on a daily basis
• Plan, prepare, and implement daily activities for children
• Communicate daily with parents, faculty, and a variety of school staff
• Work closely with Kindergarten teams to identify projects in response to student and class needs and interests
• Monitor daily after school attendance
• Supervise recreational time indoors and outdoors
• Resolve conflicts as needed
• Support a variety of student arrival and dismissal procedures
• Attend regular Extended Day Staff meetings
• Attend Kindergarten and Lower School meetings and certain professional development activities as needed
• Supervise students during certain full-day programs (“Days-Off”) when classes are not in session
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required (or currently pursuing Bachelor’s with at least two (2) years completed toward degree)
• Experience working with young children strongly preferred
• Interest in the learning and developmental experiences of very young children
• Ability to interact well with preschool and elementary age students, as well as faculty, staff, administration, and parents
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills

Compensation:

Salary: $29,700; this position is eligible for health and dental insurance benefits.
