The Parking and Code Enforcement Officer (PACE) Officer is a position who is assigned to the PACE Unit of the Oxford Police Department. This person is responsible for performing the duties assigned to the PACE Unit. This includes, but is not limited to, the Enforcement of the Ordinances for the City of Oxford, Traffic Direction and Control (i.e. School or Special Events), and Parking Enforcement. Law Enforcement and Civilian employees may be assigned to the PACE Unit. Staff assigned to PACE may be reassigned at the discretion of the Chief of Police.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EDUCATION:
Civilian Position (Non-Law Enforcement Certified):
Have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED certificate. Some college education preferred.
A United States citizen.
Possess a valid Mississippi driver's license.
Be in good physical and mental condition, can be verified by a licensed medical physician of employer's choice.
Ability to pass a criminal background investigation, as evidenced by a review of any criminal convictions, including traffic violations.
Shall be responsible for having a good moral character, maintaining a neat and well-groomed appearance and shall always carry out in a professional manner the performance of assigned duties, per the policies of the Oxford Police Department.
Serve as a sworn officer of the City of Oxford Municipal Court.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Environment: Work is performed primarily outside in the community and in a standard office setting. Some travel to various locations is required. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration; potentially hostile environments. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be very loud due to sirens, etc. Incumbents may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends and may be required to travel outside City boundaries to attend meetings; subject to emergency call out at any time.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability to work inside in an office setting and outside in a law enforcement setting; walk, stand, sit, or run for prolonged periods of time; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; occasionally climb and balance; regularly push, pull, lift, and/or carry light to moderate weights; frequently lift and/or move moderate to heavy weights; occasionally lift and/or move heavy weights; operate office equipment including use of computer keyboard; requires a sense of touch, finger dexterity, and gripping with hands and fingers; ability to speak and hear to exchange information; ability to operate a vehicle to travel to various locations.
