The salary range advertised is the designated recruitment range for this classification. Final salary offers will be determined by the candidate's education, relevant experience, internal equity alignment, and departmental budgetary parameters.

The mission of the Department of Auxiliary Services is to provide quality goods and services to the University at a fair and reasonable price. These services are designed to support the educational mission of the University and enhance the efforts of members of the University community. The Parking and Transportation Program is a fee-for-service program that has a major impact on visitor impressions of the university and a significant impact on student, faculty, and staff impressions of the workplace as a friendly, pleasant environment and an indirect impact on their productivity.

The Program must be customer-focused. The Program must seek ways to park cars while minimizing the visual impact efficiently; handle special events in the most efficient manner; reduce traffic on campus; allocate parking fairly; and enforce parking regulations fairly.

The Parking and Transportation Program administers all phases of parking operations, including special event parking; permit registration and distribution; parking allocations to user groups; visitor parking; mobile payment operations; enforcement, petitions, and appeals; and recording/collections of fees and fines. The Parking and Transportation Program encourages and plans for transportation alternatives to single occupancy vehicles with carpooling incentives, shuttle services, and an infrastructure supportive of pedestrians and cyclists.

The Parking and Transportation Program provides the data and impact analysis to be used in planning physical plant improvements, such as surface lots, parking decks, sidewalks, bike racks, and bike lanes and paths.

The Parking Customer Service Representative requires in-depth knowledge of parking services, campus layout and function, and parking systems including, but not limited to: parking database (T2 Flex), Banner, state DMV systems and various MS Office programs. Position works independently as a key contact between faculty, staff, students, contractors, vendors, volunteers, and visitors of the University of North Carolina Wilmington and facilitates customer service information and permitting needs of these entities. It is a critical and sensitive position that requires technical and professional expertise in customer service and the ability and authority to communicate policies and procedures of the University related to Parking and Transportation and be knowledgeable of campus activities and locations. This position may be the first look that visitors will have of this campus so it is imperative that the person operates with the highest level of customer service and ensures that all visitors are given clear direction and proper parking instructions. Taking department calls for campus visitors and directing campus visitors to the proper location. Must maintain a working knowledge of campus activities, events, and locations. Maintains permitting databases and assists/issues permits with courtesy and accuracy. Position is responsible for the preparation and reconciliation of daily deposits for over the counter and online sales, and may assist in ensuring that parking permit and citation feeds were recorded to Student Accounts accurately. Updates and maintains individual parking accounts in parking database. Responsible for issuance of a wide array of parking permits and passes. May assist in researching and notifying vehicle owners of unpaid parking fines, and works closely with other University departments on the issuance of visitor and event parking permits. This position will perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or administration. Those duties include but are not limited to: Learning applicable new software when installed by Parking and Transportation Services. Staying abreast to changes in rules, regulations, protocols, policies, and procedures that affect the programs in Auxiliary Services. This position may attend Parking and Transportation Workshops when available for continuing education in current and human relation issues related to parking.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Preferred education, professional skills and experience

A substantive working knowledge of The University of North Carolina Wilmington Parking & Transportation rules, regulations, administrative procedures, polices and protocols. A working knowledge and the ability to use a personal computer run basic software and create reports used during the performance of duties are required. This position must have the ability to achieve excellence in customer service and communicate in written and oral form effectively, be courteous when dealing with the campus community, make sound decisions under stressful situations, and establish and maintain effective working relationships. This position requires significant office procedures, and practices. It requires an ability to be a team player. A basic knowledge of accounting principles is needed for the accounting and purchasing functions of the position.
