Under the direction of the Director of OneCard and Parking Services, the Parking Services Assistant supports the daily functions of the office and contributes to the delivery of services to the university community.
Essential Duties
- Serves as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and vendors entering the Parking Services Office, providing assistance with parking-related inquiries and services.
- Issues physical and electronic parking permits and processes citation transactions, ensuring accurate recordkeeping and financial reporting.
- Answers and directs telephone calls, takes messages, and performs cashiering functions as needed.
- Assists with the planning and coordination of parking services for special events and university activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge
- General office procedures, practices, and equipment.
- Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and other related software.
- Parking policies, procedures, and related requirements.
- Department data systems, including Operations Commander and Banner, or the capacity to become proficient in their use.
Skills
- Operation of computers, office equipment, handheld devices, and related technology.
- Courteous and professional customer service.
- Clear and effective oral and written communication.
- Effective interpersonal relations with students, faculty, staff, visitors, vendors, the general public, and university departments.
Abilities
- Learn, understand, and apply basic campus parking policies, procedures, and related office functions.
- Assess situations, respond appropriately, and exercise sound judgment.
- Prepare, maintain, and review accurate records, documents, and reports.
- Organize work, manage multiple tasks, follow up on assignments, and complete work in a timely manner.
- Successfully complete required department or university training, including cart safety training.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of campus parking operations, permit processing, citations, or related customer service functions.
