Primary Objective

The Park and Recreation Coordinator demonstrates strong operational expertise in managing park facilities, ensuring accurate administration of rentals, rinks, amenities, and project / event support. The role requires advanced coordination to effectively engage vendors, partners, and community members in events and programming. The coordinator applies exceptional service delivery skills to uphold high experience standards across parks and rental sites. This position also exercises proficient workforce management through staff scheduling, training support, and daily operational oversight. Strong communication competency ensures clear, consistent interactions.

ANTICIPATED STAFF HOURS:

  • Monday, Tuesday and Fridays 12p - 6p

  • Saturday and Sunday 2p-6p Hours may vary depending on reservations

Examples of Duties

Main Functions:

  • Operational Oversight: Serve as a daily contact for rental scheduling, customer communication, and support.
  • Systems Management: Coordinate and schedule facility use through recreation management software.
  • Leadership & Training: Receive direction from Supervisor and effectively disseminate information to facility attendants, rental staff, and rink operations teams, providing clear guidance, training, and support.
  • Service Quality Assurance: Ensure rental operations meet City service standards and deliver a positive customer experience.
  • Weekend Operations: Support weekend programming and event procedures while providing supervision.
  • Administrative Accuracy: Assist with invoicing, confirmations, and renter follow-up to ensure timely and accurate processing.

Program Support:

  • Program Expansion: Lead efforts to broaden offerings and increase community participation and engagement.
  • Operational Monitoring: Track facility conditions, weather impacts, cancellations, and operational needs.
  • Safety & Policy Education: Educate users on facility policies, procedures, and safety expectations.
  • Resource Coordination: Inventory, organize, and coordinate equipment and supply needs for rink, rental, and program operations.
  • Issue Management: Address onsite concerns, including scheduling conflicts, maintenance needs, and program-related issues.
  • Process Compliance: Ensure rinks daily system binders and operational documentation are completed accurately.

Customer Service & Communication:

  • Responsive Communication: Provide timely responses to rental inquiries to reduce lost opportunities and provide exceptional customer experience.
  • Relationship Building: Maintain professional relationships with renters, participants, and staff.
  • Issue Reporting: Document and concerns communicate to Supervisors.
  • Essential functions and assigned duties are completed accurately, professionally, and on time.
  • Positive relationships are maintained with renters, participants, staff, and co-workers.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Participate in all required staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Supports operational efficiency and contributes to rental growth.

Administrative & Reporting Duties:

  • Data & Reporting: Conduct rental audits, run program reports, and support survey evaluation processes.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Support ADA and Minnesota Human Rights Act compliance.
  • Operational Support: Create and maintain rink team schedule.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum/Desirable Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School graduate or equivalent

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS in Business Administration, Sports Management, related field or in progress
  • Experience with recreation management software
  • Knowledge of facility rental and offering procedures
  • Experience supervising staff or volunteers
  • First Aid, CPR and AED Trained or can complete within 6 months.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $21.64 - $23.41 Hourly

2026 Full Salary Range: $21.64 - $25.32 Hourly

Ongoing Part-Time employees who are employed for more than 6 months will make contributions to the pension program (PERA) through payroll deductions unless they qualify for one of the exemptions.
