General Description

The purpose of this class is to provide maintenance of county facilities and related systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

  • Assists supervisor plan/troubleshoot large repairs.
  • Assists contractors with large repairs.
  • Operates small engine equipment.
  • Conducts playground inspections.
  • Assigns work orders and inspects completed work.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical malfunctions.
  • Repairs plumbing systems, including sump pumps, fountain pump motors, and landscape irrigation.
  • Maintains HVAC systems.
  • Repairs bathroom fixtures.
  • Maintains common work area; maintains tools and equipment.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Requires two years of experience in construction, facility maintenance or repair or closely related experience.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

The work is typically performed in a motor vehicle and outdoor setting or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.

The work is typically performed outdoors; possibly in cold and inclement weather. The employee is expose to dust, noise, grease, machinery and chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, eye protection, gloves, etc.

Emergency Preparedness Tier Level: 3

Special Certifications and Licenses:

Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
