PAY RANGE: $19.25 - $23.58 per hour, depending on experience
SCHEDULE: Monday - Thursday: 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Performs a wide variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance and upkeep of city parks, trails, open spaces, and related facilities to ensure safe, clean, and attractive public amenities.
| RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Additional duties may be assigned.)
- Maintains grounds, landscaped areas, open spaces and trails
- Performs basic irrigation system maintenance and repairs
- Maintains trails, including debris removal and minor surface repairs
- Assists with setup, support, and teardown of city events (may include weekends)
- Operates and maintains tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner
- Applies herbicides along roadways, open spaces, parks and trails regularly
- Regular use of equipment applicable to assigned areas and duties
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of applicable experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Previous experience in natural open space maintenance, herbicide application, landscape maintenance, heavy equipment operation and general maintenance is preferred, but not required. On the job training will be provided.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to perform physically demanding labor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to keep a "Safety First" mindset in all situations.
- Basic communication, reading and math skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
- Ability to learn proper operation and maintenance of varied equipment such as mowers, sprayers, trimmers, heavy equipment and hand tools.
- Keep detailed application logs and daily work journal.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
- Will be required to obtain Utah pesticide applicators license within 30 days, preference may be given to those who are currently licensed.
- Must obtain Class B CDL within 12 months of hire, preference may be given to those who hold current CDL.
