Description

Position Overview: The Parks Laborer for the Village of Los Lunas is responsible for performing a range of maintenance tasks under direct supervision within designated areas of parks, grounds, open spaces, and recreation structures. This position involves tasks such as mowing grass, fertilizing and seeding grounds, and trimming trees. The Parks Laborer contributes to the upkeep and appearance of community spaces, ensuring a welcoming environment for residents and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance tasks in assigned areas, following established guidelines and under direct supervision.
• Conduct grass mowing activities to maintain neat and well-groomed park grounds.
• Assist in fertilizing and seeding grounds to promote healthy growth and appearance.
• Participate in tree trimming activities to maintain safety and enhance aesthetics.
• Collaborate with team members to complete assigned tasks efficiently and effectively.
• Report any maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to supervisors.
• Maintain tools and equipment used for maintenance tasks in a clean and functional condition.
• Adhere to established safety protocols and guidelines while performing tasks.
• Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of park facilities and structures.
• Support special projects and events related to park maintenance and enhancement.
• Contribute to the overall aesthetic quality of community spaces by performing tasks with attention to detail.
• Participate in training sessions and workshops to improve skills and techniques.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in Grounds Maintenance or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of maintenance techniques, including grass mowing, fertilization, and tree trimming.
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with team members and following instructions.
• Basic understanding of safety protocols and the importance of adhering to guidelines.
• Capacity to work cooperatively within a team environment.
• Enthusiasm for contributing to the upkeep and appearance of community spaces.
• This position is subject to on call status
