The PARKS department is currently offering internships for highly motivated students interested in the Parks, Recreation, and Leisure field. This internship opportunity will give applicants a chance to work with in all the units of the department, which includes; Recreation, Athletics, Arts, Operations, Tennis, Aquatics, Special Events, Natural Resources, Marketing, and more!
The Internship Program Objective are to provide the student with the opportunity to:
This position is required to work some nights and weekends.
Our paid internship positions are seasonal and will not exceed the starting rate of $17.00, at 40 hours a week, for a maximum of 12 weeks.
Essential Functions
Collaborates with staff to learn about department initiatives and how their project/internship aligns with these initiatives.
Communicates effectively both verbally, in writing, and in presenting information. Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, and requests from other staff.
Maintains attendance and punctuality within customary tolerances for this position.
Duties may vary depending on the department the intern is assigned to.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student or must have graduated within the last six months.
Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants should have general knowledge of recreation policies and procedures, public relations, marketing, special events, and programming; ability to prepare reports; ability to communicate orally and written; deliver written and verbal instruction; work with diverse groups, community boards. Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with the public.
Licenses and Certifications
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Physical Abilities
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 30 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

This internship position is for a maximum of 480 hours with no benefits. At the conclusion of the internship, your employment with Cobb County will conclude. Do you agree with these terms?
