HOME OF THE JACKALOPE . Parks Supervisor Position Specification rev. 08.26.2026 Employment Status : Full -Time Experience Required: Two years' experience in ground maintenance, including experience at the supervisory level. An equivalent combination of training and related work experience will be evaluated for assignment to this position. Department: Parks and Recreation Direct Supervisor: Supervises and oversees parks maintenance staff and seasonal staff . Complies with and suggests City's Water Wise needs. Special Conditions of Work: Outside work; occasional contact with toxic chemicals. Certifications: Valid Wyoming Commercial Driver''s License (CDL), Class B within 1 year of hire. Commercial applicators license and ISA Certified Arborist within 1 year of hire. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Performs supervisory and technical work in the direction of the development, maintenance and repair of public parks and recreation . MAJOR TASKS: Directs, instructs, explains and counsels crews of division maintenance workers in carrying out a variety of tasks related to the development, maintenance and repair of parks . Devises a schedule of work, agenda or timetable for subordinates on a daily basis within the work unit. Instructs subordinate workers in the proper safety procedures of the work unit. Trains personnel in the operation of machinery and in methods and approaches to assigned tasks. Inspects work areas in order to perceive or detect problems, need for repair or maintenance or other factors affecting program or work schedule. Serves as the City Forester to include maintaining the City's tree inventory, development of new areas, and ordering, planting, and maintaining all City trees. Determines materials, supplies and chemicals required to fill routine needs of the work unit by examination of need and availability of materials and comparison of alternatives; adheres to City policy regarding purchasing and procurement of such materials and supplies; and maintains inventories of said materials. Reviews work progress of subordinate s, evaluates work performance and formulates plans for improvement. Maintains discipline and conduct of subordinate -level personnel. Works with the Parks and Recreation Director , presenting or resolving difficult problems or questions, and discussing plans and actions to be taken. Oversee the community Mosquito management operations to include identifying schedule, frequency and public notifications to ensure public health standards and concerns. HOME OF THE JACKALOPE . MINOR TASKS: Investigates citizen complaints and resolve s problems as appropriate. Prepares monthly and annual reports; daily logs, and work orde rs for the park unit , as directed ; Maintains Operating Manuals and records as needed. Assists in preparation of annual budget for parks unit , including capital improvement prioritizing. Assists other divisions within the Parks and Recreation department as necessary . Performs related work as required. KNOWLEDGE AREAS: Thorough knowledge of : fundamentals of grounds maintenance and daily maintenance of equipment used; rules and regula tions of the parks ; tree and turf maintenance techniques; weed and pest control methods and procedures; and sprinkler system installation and maintenance procedures. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office. SKILL/ABILITY AREAS: Skill in supervision and work management. Ability to allocate and plan the use of equipment and personn el to accomplish assigned tasks. A bility to ensure and follow stan dard safety procedures; and to establish and maintain effective working relati onships with employees, other departments and the public. Skill in the operation of equipment as required by the position. On occasions, be able to lift upwards of 30 -40lbs.
