Description
General Statement of Duties
Performs managerial and supervisory work in the daily operation of an outdoor aquatic center, Golf pavilion, tennis and basketball areas, and general park areas.
Distinguishing Features of the Class
An employee in this class is responsible for managing the maintenance and facilities of the park buildings and grounds, providing oversight over the Parks and Recreation facilities in Hagan Stone Park, Northeast Park or Bur-Mil Park. The employee oversees the maintenance of grounds and facilities, ensures compliance with OSHA procedures and safe working practices, supervises full time, part-time and seasonal staff for the park, pool, golf, campground, event center, and/or Wildlife Center, and performs duties of the manager in his/her absence. Work involves providing excellent customer service and ensuring that the patrons are kept safe through many avenues of recreation. The employee also identifies alternative funding sources for special programming and non-budget expenses. This position involves heavy contact with the general public which requires tact, firmness and courtesy. Work is performed under regular supervision of the Parks Operations Manager and is evaluated through daily communication, staff meetings, visual inspection, and compliance with established policies. This classification is considered exempt in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Leisure Studies and Recreation, Horticulture or related field, and three years of experience in a supervisory/lead capacity in public parks and facilities or recreation program work: OR High School diploma or GED and seven years of experience in public parks, recreation program work or similar experience with at least three years of experience in a supervisory/lead capacity.

Bachelors Degree in Leisure Studies and Recreation, Horticulture or related field, and five years of experience in a supervisory/lead capacity in public parks and facilities or recreation program work; Parks and Recreation Professional Certification (i.e. CPRP); Adult, Child, and Infant CPR/First Aid/AED certification.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Work in this class is described as medium and frequently requires physical exertion to move objects and complete tasks. Work typically involves the ability to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Work necessitates visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned in preparing and analyzing figures, accounting, transcription, and computer terminal viewing. The Employee is subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, oils, noise, extreme weather conditions and vibration. The employee is in contact with potentially infectious body fluids during the performance of his/her duties. Working conditions include both inside and outside environmental conditions.
Driving is Essential
Driving is an essential requirement of this position whether driving a County owned or personal vehicle to conduct county business. Motor Vehicle Reports may be verified for valid drivers license and that the driving record is compatible with the countys driving criteria.
If a personal vehicle is operated for county business proper insurance is maintained as per Guilford Countys vehicle use policy.
