The WVU Tech Athletics Department is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Assistant Track and Field Coach for Men's Cross Country.
About the Opportunity
This position will assist the Head Coach with responsibilities as required for an NAIA Division I or NCAA Division II Program.
What You'll Do
- On field coaching responsibilities as assigned by the head coach.
- Assess with preparation for competitions.
- Assist in evaluating talent in current and prospective student-athletes.
- Assist in organizing and conducting a strength conditioning program.
- Assist in coordinating team meetings, athletic study halls, work outs, etc.
- Assist in monitoring the academic progress, retention rates and graduation rates of student-athletes
- Assist in disciplining and monitoring conduct of student-athletes.
- Remain current and adhere to all Institutional, NCAA and/or NAIA rules.
- Assist in compiling annual inventories and preparing for equipment purchases according to state purchasing policies.
- Assist in maintaining a competitive team.
- Assist with recruiting quality student athletes that meets the criteria established by the Athletic Administration.
- Assist with organizing pre-game activities
- Responsible for assisting the Head Track & Field Coach in the development of the distance events and throwing events
- Other duties as assigned by the head coach and/or the Director of Athletics.
Work Hours: 11.25 hours per week
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- A minimum of two (2) years of collegiate playing experience or one (1) year of successful coaching experience.
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work positively with administration, athletic department staff, students and the Director of Athletics in developing and maintaining a good working relationship with the institution and the community.
- Excellent computer skills.
