Merrill Area Public Schools (MAPS) is seeking a collaborative, energetic individual to support the interrelated work of both operational and educational technology. The ideal candidate maintains a positive outlook, embraces change as an opportunity, and demonstrates high flexibility.
This role involves setting up AV/media equipment throughout the District-including, but not limited to, our two auditoriums at the middle and high schools-as well as running lights and sound for district events.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties as assigned):
- Equipment Setup & Operation: Set up AV and media equipment across the District, with a heavy focus on managing the middle school and high school auditoriums. Run lighting and sound boards for scheduled events
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine cleaning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and minor repairs on computers and audio-visual equipment.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an accurate inventory of district-owned and/or licensed computer software and hardware.
- Support: Complete other duties and technical tasks as assigned by administration.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull AV equipment, speakers, lighting fixtures, and staging materials weighing up to 50 pounds independently.
- Ability to frequently climb stairs, ascend/descend ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead.
- Fine motor skills and finger dexterity to operate complex light and sound boards, manipulate small tools for minor equipment repairs, plug in delicate cables, and handle computer components.
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus in both brightly lit and dimly lit/darkened environments.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (often 4-6 hours continuously) during live school events, theatrical performances, and equipment installation sessions.
