Job Summary:

The Building/Teacher Aide provides support to teachers, staff, and students to enhance the overall learning environment and ensure smooth day-to-day operations within the school. Responsibilities include assisting with classroom activities, supervising students during non-instructional times (e.g., lunch, recess, or hallway transitions), preparing instructional materials, and supporting administrative tasks as needed. The aide works collaboratively with teachers to reinforce lessons, manage classroom behavior, and provide individualized support to students. Flexibility, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and safe school environment are essential for this role.

Essential Functions

  • Work with individual students or small groups to provide extra help with concepts or assignments

  • Reinforce lessons taught by the teacher through repetition, practice activities, or differentiated instruction

  • Assist students with reading comprehension, math calculations or other subject-specific skills

  • Monitor student behavior and address minor disruptions according to classroom rules

  • Supervise students during transitions between activities, lunch, recess, arrival and dismissal from school and other non-instructional times.

  • Help maintain a positive and organized classroom environment

  • Prepare materials and learning centers for lessons as directed by the teacher

  • Offer positive reinforcement to students.

  • Communicate student progress and concerns to the teacher

  • Understand and follow District safety protocols and procedures

  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to follow the teacher's lesson plans and instructions

  • Patience and flexibility are essential with working with students while supporting any classroom

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing

  • Collaboration in a classroom setting

  • Ability to use digital tools like interactive whiteboards and learning apps

  • A solid understanding of childhood education principles can be helpful

  • Ability to manage student behavior

  • Organization skills
