    TITLE: Part-Time Bus Aide - Approx. 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon; Rolling interviews

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school diploma or GED preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to follow specific directions when required.
    • Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
    • Demonstrate the ability to read, write, speak, understand and/or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.

    REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation or designee.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assists the bus driver in maintaining student conduct on the bus.
    • Assists students in getting on and off the bus.
    • Private written records of violations of student conduct to the transportation department and/or program lead personnel.
    • Collect personal items left on the bus and turn them over to the transportation department and/or program lead personnel.
    • Provide instruction to students regarding passenger safety and ensure that students wear their seatbelts.
    • Performs any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the Director of Transportation or designee, and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.

    • Communicate effectively in English, using proper grammar and vocabulary. American Sign Language may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
    • Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, computers, and/or controls.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Part-time Ten (10) or twelve (12) month position. Hourly rate commensurate with experience.

    EVALUATION:

    Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Transportation or designee in accordance with New Jersey state law and the provisions of the board-approved policy on evaluations.
