The part-time bus driver position is a critical part of the Meeting Street Schools team.
Core Responsibilities
Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operation
Drive a school bus, including picking up and dropping off students and staff passengers at established locations around the city
Conduct post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure all passengers have left the bus
Attend and participate in safety meetings to learn and achieve the highest professional driving skill level
Clean bus as necessary to maintain a professional appearance and positive school image
As requested, take field trip runs to transport students and other passengers to and from their destinations
Commits to constant professional and personal growth through reflection, feedback, and collaboration
Models MSS’ Path to Success skills and supports the development of those skills in students and peers
Other duties, as needed
Skills and Characteristics
A commitment to the mission and values of Meeting Street Schools and an unwavering belief that all students can and will succeed
Team player: maturity, humility, strong work ethic, follow-through, high EQ, willingness to respond positively to feedback, and a “whatever it takes” attitude
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to kneel, sit, and stand for long periods of time
Requirements:
At least 21 years old
High school diploma
Valid driver’s license for at least 3 years
Clean driving record and ability to pass a DOT physical, pre-employment drug test, and criminal background check
Either a Class B or Class C CDL with a passenger endorsement
Minimum of one year of bus driving experience
This hourly position has a starting pay range of $20.00-$29.00 per hour.
