Description / Position Overview

Part Time - Child Care Worker - Hillside Community Center

In this role you will support elementary after school programs, as well as daytime camps, through supervising children grades kindergarten through fifth at Hillside Community Center.

  • This position is subject to budget required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year.*

This is a .50 full-time position with benefits averaging 20 hours per week. Additional hours may be scheduled as needs arise. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function in the performance of this job.

As a Child Care Worker, you will:

  • Assist in the planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of age and ability-appropriate programs
  • Ensure proper compliance with State of Colorado Childcare Licensing rules and regulations
  • Assist in providing information to parents/caregivers and children
  • Interact with program participants; participate in all activities
  • Positively interact with children; actively participate in all program areas
  • Comply with facility setup and takedown procedures
  • Assist staff with the accurate and timely completion of purchasing, personnel, accident, program, and administrative reports
  • Report accidents and behavioral concerns to the supervisor immediately
  • Actively participate in staff meetings and trainings
  • Attend all trainings and complete State Licensing certifications as required; Ensure staff files is updated and complete.
  • Comply with pertinent City and divisional policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain good public relations with parents/caregivers and staff; uphold confidentiality mandates at all times.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of child developmental stages and positive behavior management skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to prioritize, think, and work independently; problem solve; and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • At least 3 months (455 hours) of verified experience in the care and supervision of 4 or more children over the ages of four who are not related to the individuals; or a current early childhood professional credential level 1 or higher in version 3.0 as determined by the Department based on its Early Childhood Professional Credential 3.0 worksheet.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED).
  • Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restrictions.

Additional Information

Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to stand, sit, stoop, walk, climb, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds occasionally. The ability to actively participate with youth during program activities is also required.

Pre-employment Requirements: The job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of all background checks required by the State of Colorado including fingerprinting, Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Child Abuse and Neglect Records Check (Trails), among other pre-employment assessments.
