Child Nutrition Program Technician

DEPARTMENT: Child Nutrition JOB STATUS: Full Time

Essential Duties

WORK SCHEDULE: Per contracted days

POSITION SUMMARY

The Child Nutrition Technician will work cooperatively with the CN Manager and other staff members to provide the students attractive, nutritious meals in an atmosphere of cleanliness, efficiency and cheerfulness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To use basic food preparation principles by using quantity production techniques in the areas assigned to work, by using the techniques of portion control, and by using service methods
  • To understand and use a standardized recipe, including weighing and measuring products
  • To operate equipment necessary to produce the amount of food that is required
  • To follow all safety procedures and sanitation procedures
  • To operate in accordance with state, federal and local regulations
  • To perform other duties as assigned by Child Nutrition Manager
  • To perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by employee's supervisor

Education

Minimum of high school diploma or GED with an accredited educational institution. Other requirements per job description.

Experience

Minimum of one year of successful experience working with children, preferably with job related experience. Other requirements per job description.

Certificates & Licenses

Any valid certificate or license to comply with the necessary requirements to meet the position's essential duties and responsibilities.

Computer Skills

Proficiency in email communication including sending and receiving

Ability to operate our point-of-sale system and related software

Willingness to learn new technology and system as needed

Other Requirements

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community.

Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.

Ability to perform duties with awareness of all federal, state, and district requirements.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional documents. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic math operations to meet job expectations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations appropriately to meet job expectations.
