Part-Time Computer Teacher grades 3k - 8

St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception School in Greenville Wisconsin is looking for a part-time computer teacher for grades k-8. The individual woul be responsible for daily afternoon instruction of rotating grades based on the day. This position could be combined with our middle school aide position to become a full time position.

This is not a programming or computer science position. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with children and can help students become comfortable, confident, and responsible users of technology.

The position works with students from K through 8th grade, with skills increasing in complexity as students get older. With our younger students, this might mean learning basic computer skills such as using a mouse and keyboard, navigating programs, and becoming familiar with educational technology. As students progress through the grades, instruction would build toward skills such as:

• Keyboarding and basic computer operation
• Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, and other productivity tools
• Creating presentations and projects
• Organizing, saving, and sharing digital work
• Conducting appropriate online research
• Digital citizenship and internet safety
• Using technology effectively for schoolwork and everyday life
• Exploring new technology and tools in age-appropriate ways

Our goal is not to create computer programmers. Our goal is to make sure our students leave St. Mary with the technology skills they will need to be successful in high school and beyond.

Because of that, we are looking for someone who is comfortable with technology and, most importantly, enjoys teaching and working with students. A person does not need to be a computer expert or programmer to be successful in this position.
