Northern Utah Eye Center is looking for a detail-oriented and organized Contact Lens Technician to assist with the ordering, processing, and tracking of contact lens orders for our patients. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys staying organized, keeping track of details, and completing tasks accurately and efficiently.
The schedule is flexible and can be as little as two days per week, with the opportunity for additional hours for someone interested in learning and taking on other clerical responsibilities within the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and place contact lens orders accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor the status of contact lens orders from placement through arrival.
- Organize and maintain contact lens orders and related documentation.
- Communicate with contact lens manufacturers and suppliers as needed.
- Keep track of specialty contact lens orders, including custom lenses and other non-standard orders.
- Monitor timelines for specialty lens orders and follow up when orders are delayed or require additional information.
- Track warranty periods on specialty contact lenses and ensure warranty deadlines are not missed.
- Maintain accurate records of orders, warranties, replacements, and related communications.
- Notify appropriate staff when orders arrive or when follow-up is needed.
- Help ensure patients receive their lenses in a timely manner.
- Assist with other clerical and administrative duties as training and interest allow.
Qualifications
- No previous contact lens or medical office experience required.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Comfortable keeping track of multiple orders and deadlines.
- Dependable and able to follow through on tasks.
- Comfortable learning new computer systems and office procedures.
- Professional and friendly communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while also being part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities over time.
Training
We will train the right person. Previous experience in contact lenses, ophthalmology, or a medical office is not required. Training will be provided on our ordering systems, specialty contact lenses, warranty tracking, and office procedures.
Schedule & Growth Opportunity
This is a flexible part-time position, with the ability to work as little as two days per week. Additional hours may be available for someone who would like to learn other clerical and administrative tasks within the practice.
