Position Summary

St. Paul''s Lutheran Church & School is seeking a dependable and motivated Part-Time Custodian to support the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of our school campus. This position is ideal for someone looking for a consistent 20-hour work week while making a meaningful impact in a Christian educational environment.

The Part-Time Custodian will assist the Facilities Department with daily cleaning, event setup, and general facility support. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for students, staff, church members, and visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Custodial

  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas.

  • Sweep, vacuum, dust mop, wet mop, and disinfect assigned areas.

  • Empty trash and recycling containers.

  • Replenish restroom and custodial supplies.

  • Clean glass, doors, drinking fountains, and other high-touch surfaces.

  • Perform spot cleaning throughout the building as needed.

  • Assist with floor care, including auto-scrubbing, carpet spot cleaning, and seasonal deep cleaning.

Facility Support

  • Set up and tear down tables, chairs, and equipment for school, church, and community events.

  • Assist with furniture moves and classroom resets.

  • Complete basic work orders and report maintenance concerns to the Facilities Manager.

  • Help maintain custodial equipment and storage areas in a clean and organized manner.

  • Support special cleaning projects during school breaks or summer months.

Building Care

  • Conduct routine walkthroughs to identify cleaning needs or safety hazards.

  • Report maintenance issues, damaged equipment, or safety concerns promptly.

  • Help ensure the facility remains clean, organized, and presentable throughout each shift.

  • Follow established cleaning procedures and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Previous custodial, janitorial, or commercial cleaning experience is preferred but not required.

  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned responsibilities.

  • Strong attention to detail and reliability.

  • Positive attitude with a willingness to assist wherever needed.

  • Good communication and customer service skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and reach throughout the workday.

  • Push and pull custodial equipment and supply carts.

  • Safely operate cleaning equipment and tools.

  • Work indoors in a variety of building environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a school, church, healthcare, or commercial facility.

  • Experience operating auto scrubbers, floor machines, or carpet cleaning equipment.

  • Basic knowledge of proper cleaning procedures and chemical safety.

  • Ability to work flexible hours during school breaks or special events.
