Position Summary:
Exegistics Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Customs Compliance & Transportation Clerk to support operations within a customs office environment. This temporary, part-time role will focus on transportation coordination, clerical responsibilities, and resolving a backlog of documentation while ensuring full compliance with customs laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and organize a backlog of customs and transportation-related documents
  • Perform clerical duties to support day-to-day customs office operations
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable customs laws, regulations, and policies
  • Provide guidance on customs compliance matters to internal stakeholders
  • Determine proper classification of goods for import/export purposes
  • Manage import/export documentation and maintain accurate records
  • Review and verify the accuracy of customs declarations
  • Identify and report customs violations and assist in implementing corrective actions
  • Monitor changes in customs laws and regulations and recommend updates to internal procedures
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure ongoing compliance with customs requirements
  • Coordinate with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure timely release of goods
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of customs compliance processes

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in customs, logistics, transportation, or a related field preferred
  • Strong knowledge of import/export procedures and customs compliance regulations
  • Excellent organizational and document management skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to analyze information and solve problems effectively
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data management systems

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders
  • Familiarity with tariff classification systems (HTS codes)
  • Experience performing compliance audits

Work Environment:
  • Office-based role within a customs or transportation setting
  • May involve occasional coordination with warehouses or shipping areas
