Description


The Dental Hygienist is a licensed clinical professional who delivers high-quality preventive oral health services to patients across EBCAP’s dental program sites, including the main clinic and community/mobile settings. Operating under the general supervision of the supervising dentist and in accordance with Rhode Island Department of Health regulations (R5-31.1-DHA), this role serves a diverse patient population including pediatric patients through EBCAP’s school-based Smiles Program. The Dental Hygienist is responsible for performing a full scope of hygiene services, maintaining meticulous clinical documentation in NextGen EHR, and contributing to a culture of patient-centered, accountable, and professionally excellent care.


What You'll Do


As a licensed Dental Hygienist, you'll provide comprehensive preventive dental care while helping patients build healthy habits that last a lifetime.

  • Deliver the full scope of dental hygiene services, including prophylaxis, periodontal therapy, fluoride treatments, sealants, local anesthesia, and digital radiographs.
  • Perform oral health assessments, periodontal evaluations, oral cancer screenings, and document findings accurately in NextGen EHR.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene, preventive care, and treatment recommendations tailored to their individual needs.
  • Collaborate closely with dentists and the dental team to support high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Provide preventive services to children through EBCAP's school-based Smiles Program using portable dental equipment in local schools.
  • Maintain the highest standards of infection prevention, sterilization, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives, clinical documentation, and department operations while contributing to a positive team culture.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
  • Active Rhode Island Dental Hygienist license in good standing.
  • Local anesthesia certification.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • Current annual CDC Infection Control certification.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to community and school sites (mileage reimbursed).
  • Experience documenting patient care in an electronic health record (NextGen experience is a plus).
