Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to enforce local, state, and federal codes, ordinances, and laws to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public and preserve life and property within the City of Peachtree Corners.
Employees in this position perform a variety of code enforcement, public safety, and community engagement duties. Responsibilities include conducting inspections and investigations; enforcing municipal ordinances and regulations; documenting violations and enforcement actions; preparing reports and maintaining case records; conducting follow-up reviews and inspections; responding to citizen inquiries and complaints; and providing professional customer service to residents, businesses, and visitors. Duties also include operating various software applications, data management systems, and other technologies that support departmental operations.

Work is performed under general supervision and requires the exercise of independent judgment, initiative, and discretion in carrying out assigned responsibilities and determining appropriate courses of action.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:
- Enforces local, state, and federal laws, codes, and ordinances; answers emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance from 911
- Patrols city parks, recreation facilities, businesses, and other areas of the city to preserve safety and law and order
- Works closely and provide support (as needed) to other Law Enforcement Agencies
- Performs inspections with follow-ups, including issuing citations for code/ordinance non-compliance, preparing court case files, appearing in court, and obtaining/serving warrants and subpoenas and other documentation as required by policy and procedure
- Conducts detailed investigations for suspected criminal activity/acts, including securing crime scenes, collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses and suspects/offenders, and completing detailed reports
- Apprehends, arrests and maintains custody of offenders; transports offenders to jail or to any other designated locations as required by law
- Provides security for the City facilities and during official City meetings as required
- Appears in court as required
- Communicates with City residents regarding complaints/issues relating to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance; resolves issues or refers persons to appropriate personnel for handling
- Provides support to the Command Center during activation periods, as directed
- Maintains agency vehicles, including cleaning, scheduling maintenance, and performing daily inspections to ensure optimal functioning of equipment
- Assists with traffic control as needed to provide for safe and convenient flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic within the community; assists with traffic accidents, enforces traffic laws, reports unsafe road conditions to appropriate personnel
- Performs clerical tasks related to the position, including maintaining records of daily activities and/or reports, and performing data entry to prepare periodic reports and incident case cards
- Subject to train new personnel on the techniques and policies of the department
- Attends staff meetings to exchange information
- Attends training, technical, professional classes, or workshops to maintain required and/or mandated certifications
- Subject to on-call status as required
- Participates in public education and school information programs
- Participates in crime prevention activities; interact with local citizens, businesses, and community groups
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be a Georgia P.O.S.T. Certified Peace Officer; Out-Of-State certifications will be considered
- Valid Georgia Driver's License and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Must possess, or be able to obtain within a specified period of time, a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Over one (1) year of investigative experience
- Georgia P.O.S.T. Instructor Certified
- Holds a degree from an institute of higher learning such as an Associates, Bachelors, or Masters
Pay Rate: $31.00 per hour
