Part-Time Development AssistantDepartment: DevelopmentReports To: Director of Development / Development ManagerEmployment Status: Part-TimeFLSA Status: Non-ExemptHourly Rate: $25.00 - $30.00 / HourlySchedule: Part-Time (15-20 hours per week)Position SummaryThe Part-Time Development Assistant plays an important role in advancing the mission of The League for People with Disabilities by providing administrative, fundraising, donor-relations, communications, and event support to the Development Department.This position is ideal for an organized, enthusiastic, and mission-driven professional who enjoys building relationships, supporting fundraising initiatives, coordinating details, and helping an organization make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals with disabilities.The Development Assistant will work closely with the Development team to support donor engagement, fundraising campaigns, special events, grant and development activities, database management, acknowledgments, communications, and day-to-day departmental operations.The successful candidate will bring professionalism, attention to detail, confidentiality, creativity, initiative, and a genuine commitment to The League's mission of offering individuals the opportunity to gain independence, increase self-sufficiency, and improve their quality of life.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDevelopment & Fundraising SupportAssist with day-to-day operations of the Development Department.Support annual giving, special campaigns, sponsorship initiatives, and other fundraising activities.Assist with preparation and distribution of donor communications, appeal letters, newsletters, invitations, and other development materials.Help maintain accurate donor records and development files.Assist with tracking donations, pledges, sponsorships, and other fundraising activity.Prepare donor acknowledgment letters, receipts, thank-you communications, and other correspondence.Assist with donor research and prospect identification.Support the Development team in preparing materials for donor meetings and presentations.Assist with fundraising follow-up and stewardship activities.Maintain confidentiality of donor, financial, participant, employee, and organizational information.Donor & Community RelationsProvide professional and welcoming communication with donors, prospective donors, volunteers, community partners, and organizational stakeholders.Assist with donor stewardship efforts designed to strengthen long-term relationships.Help coordinate donor visits, meetings, tours, and special engagements.Respond to routine inquiries and direct questions to the appropriate Development team member.Represent The League in a professional, positive, and mission-focused manner.Events & Special ProgramsAssist with planning, coordinating, and executing fundraising events, donor events, community events, and organizational activities.Assist with event invitations, registration lists, guest lists, signage, name tags, materials, and supplies.Help coordinate event logistics, including setup and breakdown.Assist with event communications and follow-up.Provide onsite support during Development events, including greeting guests and assisting with registration.Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, vendors, and community partners to support successful events.Database & Administrative SupportEnter and maintain accurate donor and prospect information in the organization's database or designated systems.Assist with data entry, filing, scanning, document organization, and record maintenance.Assist with generating reports, mailing lists, contact lists, and other Development-related reports.Maintain organized electronic and paper Development files.Assist with tracking deadlines, campaigns, grants, sponsorships, and other departmental activities.Prepare correspondence, spreadsheets, presentations, reports, and other materials as requested.Assist with processing incoming donations and related documentation in accordance with organizational procedures.Support reconciliation and documentation processes as assigned.Communications & Marketing SupportAssist in preparing Development-related content for newsletters, emails, social media, websites, and other communication platforms.Help collect stories, photographs, program information, and other materials that demonstrate The League's impact.Assist with proofreading and editing Development communications for accuracy, professionalism, and consistency.Help coordinate the distribution of fundraising and donor communications.Support the creation of compelling materials that communicate The League's mission, programs, accomplishments, and community impact.Grant & Sponsorship SupportAssist with research related to potential foundations, corporations, businesses, and community funding opportunities.Assist with gathering information and supporting documentation for grant applications and reports.Maintain grant and sponsorship files and tracking documents.Assist with preparing sponsorship packets, recognition materials, and follow-up correspondence.Track deadlines and required materials under the direction of Development leadership.Team CollaborationCollaborate with Development, Programs, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, and other departments as appropriate.Participate in staff meetings, training, events, and professional development activities.Provide support to other Development initiatives as assigned.Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist with special projects and changing departmental priorities.Mission & Participant FocusThe Development Assistant is expected to understand and promote The League's life.QualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent.Previous administrative, customer service, fundraising, nonprofit, office, or related experience preferred.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.Ability to maintain confidential information.Professional and courteous interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email, spreadsheets, and other standard office technology.Ability to interact professionally with donors, community partners, staff, volunteers, and individuals with disabilities.PreferredAssociate or bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, business administration, marketing, public relations, fundraising, or a related field.Previous nonprofit or development/fundraising experience.Experience with donor databases, CRM systems, fundraising platforms, or event-management software.Experience supporting grant writing, donor stewardship, sponsorships, or special events.Experience working with individuals with disabilities or within a human-services organization.Core CompetenciesThe successful candidate will demonstrate:Accountability locations and community sites.Occasionally assist with event setup, organization, and breakdown.Occasionally lift or move office/event materials and supplies within reasonable limits.The League is
