Part-Time Dog Walker & Pet Sitter - Flexible Hours

Love animals, want to get out of the house more, and have some extra room in your schedule?

Charleston Dog Walker is looking for reliable, caring people to join our team for dog walks and pet sitting visits throughout the week and on weekends.

Whether you have availability in the mornings, during the day, in the evenings, on weekends, or a combination of those, we'd love to hear from you.

We're not a gig app. You'll be a W-2 employee and part of an established local pet care company with training, support, and a team behind you. We handle the clients, scheduling, and payments. You get to focus on taking great care of the pets.

The Schedule

Our pet care visits take place seven days a week between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., with opportunities available during mornings, middays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

You don't need to be available all day or every day. We're looking for people who have consistent blocks of availability that we can regularly schedule within. That might mean a few weekday mornings, evenings after work, Saturdays and Sundays, or a combination that works with your schedule.

You'll let us know when you're available to work, and we ask that you keep your availability up to date as your schedule changes. We use that availability, along with our clients' needs, to build your schedule.

There's flexibility when life and schedules change, but reliability matters. Once you're scheduled for a visit, our clients and their pets are counting on you to be there.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Most visits are approximately 30 minutes, with drive time between clients' homes.

During your visits, you'll:

• Walk dogs and provide potty breaks, exercise, and playtime
• Care for cats and other household pets
• Provide meals, fresh water, medications, and other routine care as instructed
• Follow each pet's individual routine and detailed care instructions
• Send clients a visit update with photos after each visit
• Pay attention to anything unusual with a pet or their home and communicate with our management team when needed
• Work independently while knowing you have a management team available when you need support

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for people who genuinely enjoy caring for animals and understand the responsibility that comes with being trusted with someone's pet and home.

This job may be a great fit for you if you:

• Have meaningful hands-on experience caring for animals
• Are comfortable with dogs of different breeds, sizes, energy levels, and personalities
• Are comfortable walking two dogs at the same time
• Are dependable and take commitments seriously
• Pay attention to details and can follow written instructions closely
• Communicate clearly and aren't afraid to ask questions when you're unsure
• Are comfortable working independently and making good decisions when you're on your own
• Enjoy being active and working outdoors in Charleston weather
• Are comfortable using your smartphone throughout the day for schedules, directions, photos, and visit updates
• Are looking for consistent part-time work and can commit to being part of our team for at least six months, ideally much longer

What You'll Need

• You must be at least 18 years old
• You must live within our service area: James Island, Downtown Charleston, Johns Island, Folly Beach, or Avondale
• You must have your own reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and current auto insurance
• You must have a smartphone with reliable internet access
• You must be comfortable driving between clients' homes throughout your scheduled visits
• You must be able to safely handle the physical demands of dog walking and pet care, including walking for extended periods, climbing stairs, and working outside in heat, humidity, and rain

• Approximately $11 per 30-minute visit
• Mileage reimbursement for eligible driving between client visits

The number of visits and hours available will vary based on your availability, location, and our clients' scheduling needs.
