Buntyn Preschool is seeking part-time, flexible, early childhood caregivers to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting classrooms by assisting with teacher-to-student ratios and responding to immediate needs as they arise. This position requires adaptability, strong communication skills, and a passion for working with young children in a nurturing, engaging environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Support: Provide coverage in classrooms to ensure compliance with state-mandated teacher-to-student ratios.
- In-the-Moment Assistance: Step into classrooms as needed to assist with activities, transitions, or behavioral interventions.
- Flexibility: Move between classrooms and age groups (infants, toddlers, preschoolers) based on daily staffing needs.
- Supervision: Support lead and assistant teachers in maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
- Daily Routines: Assist with mealtime, naptime, toileting, and other daily routines as directed by classroom teachers.
- Engagement: Interact with children to foster their social, emotional, and cognitive development through play, conversation, and modeling appropriate behavior.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with teachers and administrative staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Substitute Coverage: Serve as a temporary substitute teacher in classrooms when needed.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages respect, cooperation, and a love for learning.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
- Ensure the well-being and security of all children in your care, following health and safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and licensing regulations.
- Prepare developmentally appropriate play-based activities that stimulate cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 or older and possess a high school diploma or equivalent (CDA or early childhood education coursework preferred).
- Previous experience working with young children in a group setting.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments and age groups.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
- Physical ability to lift children up to 40 pounds, sit on the floor, and move actively throughout the day.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Criminal Background check and pre-employment training required.
Work Environment:
- Work hours may vary depending on scheduling needs, with occasional adjustments to meet classroom demands.
- Must be comfortable working with a range of ages and developmental stages.
