Wesleyan College in Macon, GA is seeking a qualified, professional American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contracted part-time position provides vital communication access, ensuring equity and inclusion for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students within our campus community.
Position Overview
- Job Title: Educational ASL Interpreter
- Location: Wesleyan College Campus, Macon, GA (On-site)
- Schedule: 25 to 29 hours per week (aligned with the academic calendar)
- Duration: August 2026 - May 2027
- Compensation: $40,000.00 for the academic year
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, real-time ASL interpretation for undergraduate lectures, labs, and academic discussions.
- Facilitate smooth communication during campus events and student life activities.
- Collaborate closely with the Wesleyan College Student Support Services team to ensure student accommodations are met.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in alignment with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct and FERPA guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting or a related linguistic field.
- Active sign language interpreter credentials or certification valid in the state of Georgia.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional interpreting experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Deep understanding of Deaf culture and diverse communication preferences.
