Part-Time (.7 FTE) Elementary School Social Worker ~ 2026-2027 School Year
The Washington Township School District is seeking a dedicated, collaborative, and student-centered Elementary School Social Worker to serve as a member of the Child Study Team. The successful candidate will possess strong clinical, interpersonal, and organizational skills and demonstrate a commitment to supporting the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success of students with disabilities.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as an active member of the Child Study Team in accordance with New Jersey special education regulations.
- Conduct comprehensive social history evaluations and contribute to multidisciplinary evaluations for students referred to the Child Study Team.
- Participate in eligibility meetings, annual reviews, reevaluations, and other IEP meetings while collaborating with families and multidisciplinary team members.
- Provide individual and small-group counseling services to students whose IEPs require social work services.
- Consult and collaborate with teachers, administrators, school psychologists, learning disabilities teacher consultants, speech-language pathologists, related service providers, and outside agencies to support student success.
- Conduct classroom observations and gather functional information to assist in the evaluation process.
- Provide consultation and support to staff regarding student behavior, social-emotional needs, crisis intervention, and positive behavioral supports.
- Assist families in accessing community resources, mental health services, and outside agencies that support student needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, evaluation reports, case notes, and records in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.
- Participate in crisis intervention, threat assessment, and risk assessment activities as needed.
- Support school-wide initiatives promoting positive school climate, attendance, student wellness, and social-emotional learning.
- Maintain confidentiality while adhering to professional ethics and legal requirements.
- Participate in professional development activities to remain current with evidence-based practices and changes in special education law and regulations.
Job Requirements:
- Valid New Jersey Educational Services Certificate and School Social Worker Endorsement (3200)
- Experience working with families and community health and social services agencies
- Demonstrated knowledge of laws and regulations governing special education
- Knowledge of NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards preferred
- Effective problem-solving, human relations and communication skills
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
Salary: In accordance with the established WTEA Salary Guide ranging from $48,660 - $54,964
Benefits: Part-time employees are not eligible for health benefits.
