Position Information

Job Title Part-Time Evening English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor Rank Adjunct Job Description

  • Deliver engaging English language instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans aligned with College and Career Readiness standards and student learning goals.
  • Integrate contextualized instruction, workforce readiness skills, math language, and digital literacy into classroom activities.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and multisensory learning experiences to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Administer and interpret formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
  • Support student persistence, retention, and achievement of educational and career goals.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance, assessment, and instructional records.
  • Participate in required professional development and training activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all College, North Carolina Community College System, state, and federal policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • ESL teaching experience, TESOL certification, or the ability to obtain required ESL credentials.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous ESL, adult education, or community college teaching experience.
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in using instructional technology and digital learning tools.
  • Knowledge of College and Career Readiness standards and adult education best practices.

Salary Range Based on Cleveland's current salary structure
