These benefits include tuition assistance ability to contribute to a supplemental retirement plan participation in the Staff Senate and wonderful discountsResponsibilitiesProvides general audiovisual support for meetings conferences and eventsVerifies all equipment requests for events are set in the exact manner as described on the set-up report this involves setting of tables and chairs and AV equipment in accordance with reservation requestsOperates and maintains a working knowledge of all AV systems in Mason Square event venuesVerifies AV equipment is tested and fully operational before events beginResponds to and troubleshoots minor technical issues and provides user support during events when requiredDelivers timely and effective support to event clients responding promptly to all requestsEnsures accurate and on time fulfilment of table and equipment delivery requestsCompletes regular building checks to retrieve and return event signage and equipment to storageMaintains order in all storerooms and ensures aisles and mechanical equipment areas are kept clear of equipmentEnsures proper storage of plaza furniture and umbrellas in advance of inclement weatherAssists management with event operations and execution requirements while ensuring compliance with Mason Square venue polices andIdentifies maintenance discrepancies andor damages within event spaces and reports them to the Operations Manager.Required QualificationsMust be a high school graduateUnderstanding of audiovisual equipment used to support events and multimedia applications audiovisual hardware configuration conference AV set-up streaming platforms knowledge of electronics used to support events and a willingness to learn new skillsPossess outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently with a diverse audience including current university faculty and staff alumni donors students and the communityPossess a strong customer service time management and organizational skillset with high attention to detailMust have excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skillsMust be able to safely and independently move items up to 50 pounds andMust be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.Preferred QualificationsAt least six-months experience working in an event venue operations support capacityWillingness to learn audiovisual and multimedia applications conference AV set-up and streaming tools and platforms andFamiliarity with higher education.Instructions to ApplicantsFor full consideration applicants must apply for the Part-TimeEvent Assistant at httpsjobs.gmu.edu.Complete and submit the online application to include three professional references with contact information and provide a cover letter and resume for review.Posting Open Date December 1 2025For Full Consideration Apply by December 15 2025Open Until FilledYes
