ABOUT

Reporting to the Manager, the exam Proctor will assist in providing professional, consistent, and secure testing services to TJC students, as well as to individuals in the community. In order to provide an efficient and courteous work environment, the exam Proctor must be able to work and interact well with students, staff, and faculty. The hours for this position are varied. The Test Proctor will need to be flexible and able to work evening and Saturday shifts on occasion.

This is a part-time position and can work up to 18 hours per week.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Enforce testing policies and procedures firmly but courteously.
  • Monitor students and community members' testing sessions.
  • Returning completed academic tests to instructors.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the testing rooms.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No direct supervision

Physical Demands: Sitting, standing for long periods of time, walking, visual acuity, lifting up to (~25lbs.)

Work Environment: Consists of high-volume operations with variable demands, changing priorities, deadline-driven workloads, and regular interaction with distressed individuals.

Travel Required: No

If travel is required, the candidate must have and maintain a current, valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record

WHO YOU ARE

Required Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education

Associate's Degree in Education or a related field

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in a community college or university environment
  • Proctor experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot technology issues

Additional Job-Specific Requirements

Effort & Exertion

  • Must be able to lift at least 25lbs and stand for up to an hour or more as needed.
  • Must be able to easily navigate testing areas to administer exams and serve test takers.
  • Moderate: moderate physical exertion required by intermittent periods of frequent walking or standing.

Work Schedule

  • Mostly routine evening shifts, Monday through Thursday, 3:30pm-8:00pm, and 10am-2pm on Saturdays starting in the Fall Term.

RETIREMENT

Part-Time Retirement

Part-time employees are required to participate in the part-time retirement fund. The retirement fund is invested in a group fixed annuity contract with Ohio National Life Insurance Company. The plan will provide you and your beneficiary with fully vested cash settlement or income benefits after termination of employment for any reason.

Employee and immediate family use of the Apache Recreation Center - an indoor weight and exercise center, 18-hole disc golf course, covered basketball course, and outdoor ping-pong table and cornhole. The cost is $5 per ID.
