St. Pius V School is seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic Extended Day Program Assistant to support our after-school program for students ages 3–13. In this role, you will help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where students can complete homework, participate in recreational and enrichment activities, and build positive relationships with peers and staff.
The Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic schools serve more than 40,000 students in 150+ elementary and high schools in Cook and Lake counties. It is one of the largest private school systems in the United States. Its schools have received 96 Blue Ribbon awards from the U.S. Department of Education over the past 10 years. This is for the 2026 - 2027 school year.
Responsibilities
- Supervise students in a safe, nurturing, and engaging after-school environment.
- Assist students with homework and provide academic support as needed.
- Plan and lead age-appropriate games, crafts, and enrichment activities.
- Foster positive relationships while encouraging respect, responsibility, and inclusion.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times.
- Communicate professionally with families and school staff.
- Assist with snack distribution, attendance, and daily program setup and cleanup.
- Follow all school policies and child safety procedures.
Qualification
- Experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or similar setting preferred.
- High school diploma required; college coursework in education, child development, or a related field is a plus.
- Positive, patient, dependable, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Must successfully complete required background checks and comply with Archdiocese of Chicago Safe Environment requirements.

This position has an hourly range of $16.60 - $17.26. An employee’s pay within the range will be based on many factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
