Position Summary

The Facility and Maintenance Manager assures optimal functioning of the parish's building and grounds in support of the Pastor's initiatives and decisions regarding the mission and operation of the parish. Assists the Operations Director and other parish / school leaders with stewardship of the physical resources of the parish in accordance with Archdiocesan policies, procedures and guidelines. Serves as project manager for facilities and maintenance projects as well as parish functions and events.

Responsibilities

BUILDING MAINTENANCE

  • Primary contact for contractors and other vendors as it relates to facilities management.
  • Obtain bids on projects as requested. Submit bid evaluations to Operations Director and Pastor for selection and approval.
  • Provide input into annual budget and periodic forecasts as it pertains to facility and maintenance costs.
  • Act as resource for the Building and Grounds Committee of the Finance Council.
  • Manage maintenance and custodial personnel. Perform annual evaluations of maintenance and custodial personnel.
  • Responsible for security of parish grounds, contacting Pastor, Operations Director and local police department when needed as result of damage or vandalism to grounds
  • Assure optimal functioning of building systems, including fire/life, HVAC, lighting, mechanical and plumbing in all parish facilities.
  • Oversee maintenance service and repairs in the areas of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, masonry and painting.
  • Ensure parish machinery is well maintained and that maintenance procedures are followed. Utilize existing information and schedules and develop additional schedules as needed.
  • Support snow removal needs to ensure safe conditions for parishioners, parish staff and school personnel, children and visitors.
  • In accordance with the parish's Purchasing Approval Policy, purchase materials required for facility and grounds upkeep.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Oversee day-to-day tasks for approved Parish projects as it pertains to capital, facilities and maintenance. Prepare written updates to management, as required.
  • Oversee set up and take down of parish functions and events.
  • Oversee, assign tasks and monitor work of volunteers.

Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Certification/licensure or Associate degree in technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience or equivalent combination of formal education and related work experience such as building maintenance and related systems.
  • Knowledgeable in procedures and safety measures of facilities and grounds management.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing and electrical.
  • Knowledge of use and maintenance of power and hand tools used on the job.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and communicate to others in writing.
  • Ability to communicate in spoken and written English.
  • Familiarity with basic PC skills, email, internet and Microsoft products.
  • Valid driver's license.

Mental and Physical Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
  • Climb ladders and stairs, as necessary, including accessing roof structures up to 30'.

This position has a salary range of $35,568-$39,000. An employee's pay within the range is based on relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, location & business needs
