    Job Description

The College of Law is seeking a part-time instructor to teach a 2 credit course Pitch to Premiere in its residential (JDi Residency) program. The course (Law994, M603) meets in an intensive form at March 8-11, 2027. The course focuses on what in-house entertainment lawyers and business affairs executives actually do. Students follow the life cycle of a television project from the initial pitch through premiere while examining the legal and business decisions that shape each stage of the process. Students learn the customary terms negotiated in entertainment deals and how projects are acquired, packaged, taken to market, developed, financed, produced, and delivered to exhibitors. Examples are drawn from actual scripted and unscripted projects in the entertainment and sports industries. The course also reviews the distinct roles of Business Affairs, Legal Affairs, and Production Legal, and how they collaborate with creative, production, and finance executives and negotiate with agents, managers, and talent lawyers.
