    Description

    The Setnor School of Music within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks Part-Time Instructor to teach AMC 547 Advanced Diction for Singers, a two credit hour course, during the Fall semester, 2026.

    For singers. The unique sounds of French, German, Italian, and English are explored through class performances along with review of the International Phonetic Alphabet.

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of a Master of Music (preferred), or demonstrable equivalent professional experience.
    • Demonstrated successful college level teaching experience is strongly preferred.

    Job Specific Qualifications

    • The candidate should have strong attention to detail, knowledge of course content, demonstrated pedagogical ability, as well as the ability to relate well in a classroom and one-on-one environment with college-level students.
    • Preference will be given to applicants who are able to fulfill multiple positions within the Setnor School of Music.

    Responsibilities

    Being present and instructing weekly class meetings as indicated:

    • Tuesdays/Thursdays 11:00-11:55 AM
    • Teaching the first semester of a two-semester course sequence of vocal literature, focusing on selected vocal repertoire.
    • Develop and/or update a class syllabus.
    • Prepare lectures, projects, or other student assignments.
    • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
    • Present instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
    • Meet all designated class periods.
    • Submit completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to university regulations.
    • Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
    • Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
    • Build a positive rapport with students and other faculty
