Founded in 1967, Lakeland Community College now serves more than 5,000 students annually and provides a continuum of education, from offering college credit courses for high school students to preparing students for the workforce upon completion of certificates, associate degrees or transfer to a four-year institution. We are seeking an instructor who will provide in-person, on-campus instruction in Basic Economics (ECON 1150) and student support to College Credit Plus (CCP) students taking a Lakeland Community College course on the campus of Mentor High School. The class is an in-person college-level introductory course, and students in the class are considered Lakeland Community College students for the duration of the course and semester.

Courses are available on a variety of days and times.  Current openings are for lecture and/or lab sections.

 

ECON 1150 Basic Economics(OT36) 3 Credits

This course provides an introduction to basic economics and its implications for economic problems and policies. The course aids students in the development of the understanding of the American economic system. This course is not recommended for students who intend to take or who have taken ECON 2500 Principles of Macroeconomics or ECON 2600 Principles of Microeconomics.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Minimum: A master’s degree (any discipline) and 18 graduate credit hours in economics or a closely related field (either as part of the degree or additional work beyond the degree), or a master’s degree in economics

Ideal: Ph.D., Economics

Minimum work experience: Some experience teaching college-level basic economics classes.

Preferred: Experience teaching college-level basic economics classes in a community college setting.
