Part-Time Faculty: MUE 615.1: Introduction to Research in Music (Fall 2026)

The Setnor School of Music within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks Part-Time Instructor to teach MUE 615, a three credit hour course, during the Fall semester, 2026.

Course familiarizes students with methods and techniques required for in-depth exploration of music literature and research studies. Additional study of bibliographical materials is explored, as well as the study and application of appropriate writing styles.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in music or music history.
• Evidence of exceptional scholarly writing skills, with ability to edit and assist in the preparation of student work.
• Experience teaching at the collegiate level with non-native speaking students (preferred).

Job Specific Qualifications

• The candidate should have strong attention to detail, knowledge of course content, demonstrated pedagogical ability, as well as the ability to relate well in a classroom and one-on-one environment with college-level students.
• Preference will be given to applicants who are able to fulfill multiple positions within the Setnor School of Music.

Responsibilities

• Being present and instructing weekly class meetings during Fall semester as indicated:
• Tuesdays/Thursdays 5:00 PM - 6:20 PM
• Update a class syllabus.
• Prepare lectures, projects, or other student assignments.
• Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
• Present instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
• Meet all designated class periods.
• Submit completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to university regulations.
• Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
• Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
• Build a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
