Summary of Position

Provides high-quality instruction in both online and face-to-face learning environments. Teaches didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical courses that support student achievement of program learning outcomes, professional competencies, and industry certification standards. Must be able to provide online instruction as well as in-person clinicals at the Campbell Health and Community Development Center in Lowellville Ohio. May be assigned Saturday clinical hours as well.

Position Information

Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Faculty will utilize the university's learning management system and instructional technologies to support online learning while also providing hands-on instruction and student supervision during in-person laboratory and clinical activities. The position requires collaboration with program faculty, clinical partners, and university staff to promote student success and maintain program quality.

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays. Teaching assignments will be remote and at various locations.

Qualifications and Competencies

Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures:Current International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO) certification.

Sponsorship and/or Work Authorization Status: Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Minimum Qualifications: At least a high school diploma or GED; current IJCAHPO certification (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, Certified Ophthalmic Technician, or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist); experience working in ophthalmic clinical practice; and must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in ophthalmic technology, health sciences, or a related healthcare field. Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT). Teaching experience in higher education, continuing education, or workforce training programs. Experience delivering instruction in both online and hybrid formats. Experience mentoring or supervising students in clinical environments.

Physical Requirements: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform light work.

Light: work involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, requiring: (1) walking or standing to a significant degree; (2) sitting most of the time while pushing or pulling arm or leg controls; or (3) working at a production rate pace while constantly pushing or pulling materials even though the weight or the materials is negligible. (The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.)
