Part-Time Faculty: PRL 611: Public Relations Research (Fall 2026)

The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University is seeking an individual to teach PRL 611Public Relations Research which meets Tuesdays/Thursdays 11:00am-12:20pm during the Fall 2026 semester (3 credits).

Course Description: This course addresses the nature, formation, and communication of attitudes and public opinion in public relations settings. It introduces students to a variety of research methodologies to develop and execute a public relations plan, applying social science methods for measuring attitudes, opinions, and public relations performance. Research will be designed and carried out for an actual client.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required; PhD preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Preference given to those with teaching experience at the university level.

Responsibilities

It is understood that teaching assignments may include the following:

• Developing a syllabus.
• Ordering books and materials for students in the class to purchase on or before the first day of classes in advance.
• Preparing for classes.
• Holding office hours each week to meet with students in the class and others.
• Grading in a timely manner student assignments and examinations for the course; and turning in mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to instruct the class on the days and times it is designated to meet.
• Ability to hold office hours on campus.
• Ability to grade all assignments and examinations.

Tools/Equipment

• Ability to operate standard classroom instructional technology, which may include computer, projector, document camera, etc.
