Part-Time Faculty: RAE 622.1: Music Aesthetics and Fundamentals (Spr 2027)

The Setnor School of Music within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks Part-Time Instructor to teach RAE 622 Music Aesthetics and Fundamentals, a three credit hour course, during the Spring semester, 2027.

Musical aesthetics and fundamentals for future music industry professionals. Emphasis placed on the role of aesthetics in the music industry, exploring how an understanding of musical fundamentals can inform decisions in areas such as production, marketing, artist management, and sound design.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a master's degree in music or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience teaching studio voice at the collegiate level.

Job Specific Qualifications

• The candidate should have strong attention to detail, knowledge of course content, demonstrated pedagogical ability, as well as the ability to relate well in a classroom and one-on-one environment with college-level students.
• Preference will be given to applicants who are able to fulfill multiple positions within the Setnor School of Music.

Responsibilities

• Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
• Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
• Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
• Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
• Meeting all designated class periods.
• Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
• Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.
• Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
• Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
• Provide instruction on software and hardware maintenance as needed.
