PART-TIME FITCITY CENTER MAINTENANCE TECHDEPARTMENT: PARKS AND RECREATIONJOB CLASSIFICATION: PART TIME PAY GRADE 3PAY GRADES LINK GENERAL PURPOSEUnder the direct supervision of the FitCity Center Facilities Maintenance Leadworker, this part- time position (18 hrs per week) performs a variety of general maintenance work at the FitCity Center.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPrimary duties include pressure washing various surfaces, cleaning carpets, operating lifts and other equipment, cleaning swimming pool filters, strainers, and ensuring a clean and safe facility.Performs a variety of daily trade work related to the maintenance and repair of City buildings and facilities. Helps to ensure smooth operation of the facility, cleaning of pool filters. Assists in the setup and breakdown of events, including, but not limited to, tables, chairs, decorations, and garbages.Assists in basic repairs and adjustments to equipment with little or no supervisory oversight.Performs many aspects of trade work related to the maintenance, and cleaning, and repair. Operates a variety of standard hand & power tools and equipment used in building construction, renovation, maintenance and repair activities. May perform snow removal using hand shovels, motorized equipment with rotary broom and blade attachments.Performs other related duties as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma, G.E.D or equivalent, plus one year of experience performing general building maintenance, custodial work, or construction-related work is preferred. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, or mechanical systems is desirable. Must have a valid drivers license.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESWorking knowledge of general building maintenance, cleaning practices, and routine repair procedure.Knowledge of safety standards, personal protective equipment and precautions pertaining to the use of tools and heavy physical labor.Ability to safely and effectively operate a variety of power & hand tools and equipment common to the building tradesAbility to perform heavy manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, and frequently lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted. Must have transportation to and from work and speak English.Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions in English.Must have physical strength and ability sufficient to meet job requirements for extended periods under uncomfortable conditions in all types of weather.Must have ability to climb on ladders, to work in confined spaces and to do moderate lifting and moving of furniture.Must have excellent organizational skills, and strong people skills.Must have a professional positive attitude with good communication skills. Be productive while working alone and with others. Employee is expected to deal effectively and courteously with the public and fellow City employees.Must be able to meet attendance and punctuality requirements for this position which will include frequent morning or late evening shifts, as decided with the FitCity Center Facilities Maintenance Leadworker. Must abide by all city policies and procedures. Should expect to work a number of weekends and holidays.Must be a self-motivated, open minded problem solver that adapts readily to change.
