MSD of Shakamak is seeking a passionate, student-centered Part-Time High School World Language Teacher, with Spanish strongly preferred, to join our Jr./Sr. High School team. This position involves teaching approximately three class periods per day and offers flexible opportunity for an educator who is committed to helping students develop language proficiency, cultural awareness, and global understanding.
The ideal candidate will create an engaging classroom environment that promotes communication, critical thinking, and appreciation for diverse cultures.
Essential Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with Indiana Academic Standards and district curriculum expectations
- Develop engaging lessons that strengthen students speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in target language
- Foster student growth through meaningful learning experiences and differentiated instructional stragies
- Assess student learning and provide timely feedback to students and families
- Maintain accurate records related to attendance, grading, and student progress
- Build relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment
Qualifications
- Valid Indiana teaching license in Spanish or another World Language area, or eligibility to obtain appropriate licensure preferred
- Bachelors degree required
- Strong content knowledge in language instruction and cultural studies
- Effective classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
- Commitment to student success and continuous professional growth
Preferred Qualifications
- Spanish licensure or demonstrated ability to teach Spanish coursework
- Experience teaching secondary world languages
- Ability to integrate technology and interactive instructional practices into instruction
