    Department Information

    Each faculty member reports to the appropriate Department Chair and School Dean.

    Job Summary

    South Georgia State Colleges School of Business and Professional Studies is seeking applications for part-time faculty to teach in the Associate of Science in Criminal Justice program. Successful applicants are expected to demonstrate success in some or all of these areas: service to the College, academic achievement, professional growth and development, and course assessment. Teaching assignments may be assigned to any SGSC campus, off-campus, day, evenings, week-ends, or on-line.

    Responsibilities

    Course Instruction -

    Strive for continual improvement of student success by planning an optimal learning environment, providing superior instruction and advising.

    Deliver effective instruction by assuming primary responsibility for curriculum development in conjunction with the Dean of the School of Business and Professional Studies.

    Course Syllabus -

    Manage learning environments by ensuring that accurate syllabi are developed that incorporate college, school, and faculty requirements.

    At the beginning of each course, provide each student with a syllabus per the guidelines in the faculty handbook.

    Class Schedule -

    For face-to-face courses, meet in-person for each class as scheduled at the designated time and place and for the designated length of time.

    For online courses, log into GAVIEW each weekday to ensure adequate progress of each student.

    Communication -

    Correspond to all students¿ emails, phone calls, GAVIEW posts and instant messages within 24 hours.

    Teaching Discipline -

    Stay current in the teaching discipline(s) and the pedagogy of that discipline.

    Banner Administration -

    Submit correct proof rosters and grades in Banner by the assigned deadlines. Record daily attendance according to institutional policy.

    Maintain adequate records of student progress (using required program documentation) including posting mid-term grades in Banner.

    Assessment Data -

    Submit assessment data to the Assessment Coordinator at the end of each semester by the required deadline.

    Office Hours/Supervision Meetings -

    Be available to meet with students outside of class.

    Be available for part-time faculty/supervision meetings.

    Other Duties -

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    Educational Requirements

    The completion of a masters degree plus 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline.

    Required Experience

    Demonstrated excellence in teaching is essential. Technology skills and good interpersonal skills are required.

    Preferred Educational Qualifications

    A Doctorate Degree in the field of Criminal Justice, Sociology, Public Administration, etc.

    Preferred Experience

    Three years teaching experience.
