Part-time Library Assistant

Ivy Tech Evansville seeks a part-time library assistant to assist in the daily operations of the library.

Major Responsibilities:

• Shelves library materials, performs shelf reading and other maintenance of library items.
• Assists patrons in using PCs, both software and hardware basics.
• Performs circulation functions for all library materials
• Assists in maintaining a neat and clean library
• Assists in the processing of patron communications
• Keeps the librarian apprised of any requests, problems, or repair needs as they arise.
• General clerical duties, data entry.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires the ability to hear, talk, see, read, write, and type on a constant basis.
• Requires frequent bending, stooping, and standing.
• Requires the ability to lift up to 30 pounds on an infrequent basis.

Tools/Equipment Used:

• Operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and printer
• Use and speak on a telephone.

Mental Requirements:

• Ability to use problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to understand and remember instructions, requests and directives.
• Ability to work independently from supervisor.
• Requires sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic background of college students and employees.

Hiring Range:

• This position pays $15.00 per hour.

Work Hours:

• The schedule for this role is generally for normal business hours on weekdays.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED
• Knowledge of computers and word processing
• This is an in-person position at our campus in Evansville, IN. Remote work is not available.
